Iron Range Birding Tour
Mt Molloy, Musgrave area, Lakefield & Iron Range National Parks, Quintel and Chilli Beach, Portland Rds and the Claudie River system.

Crimson Finch (White-bellied)

Frill-necked Monarch
This tour departs from and returns to Cairns and takes in two iconic national parks, both world-renowned birding hotspots, add in some hidden waterholes on a Cape York working cattle station and you have an incredible mix of Australian landscapes.
On the first leg of this trip the Cape York endemic Golden-shouldered Parrot will certainly be a target, as will a variety of North Australian Finches, Honeyeaters and Waterbirds, as we explore some open savannah country interspersed with stunning waterways and billabong areas. Stage two of this Cape York tour we will be visiting Iron Range (Kutini-Payamu) National Park, simply one of Australia’s best birdwatching experiences.
We always fit in some night Time spotlighting in the area with Marbled and Papuan Frogmouth, Large-tailed Nightjar and a Kutini Payamu specialty the Spotted Cus Cus.

The park is home to a huge range of raptors and waterbirds, with the added chance of sighting the very rare Red Goshawk at their seasonal nesting site.
